Question

The rate of a chemical reaction doubles for every 10 C rise of temperature. If the temperature is raised by 50 C, the rate of the reaction increase by about

Open in App
Solution

Given,
For every 10 C rise of temperature, the rate is doubled. Thus, the temperature coefficient of the reaction = 2

Let, the initial rate = r1
New rate r2=r1×2(Temperature difference/10)

Temperature is increased by 50 C
Hence, rate increases by
r2=r1×2(50/10)=25r1
Hence, the rate is increased by 32 times.
