The correct option is D energy
Diffusion is the process of movement of ions or molecules from the region of high concentration to the region of low concentration. There are some factors that affect the rate of diffusion, one of those factors is thickness of the membrane.
If the membrane is thick, the particles take more time to diffuse.
Size of the particle: It is a factor which affects the rate of diffusion. If the particle size is less than the pore size of the membrane, particles will easily pass through it.
Solubility of gas: When a substance is soluble, it has the ability to dissolve in another substance and hence increase the rate of diffusion. More is the solubility, more will be the diffusion of a substance.
Energy: Diffusion is a passive process, it means it is not an energy dependent process. Here the molecules pass along the concentration gradient i.e. region of higher concentration to lower concentration. Hence, the rate of the diffusion will not depend upon the energy.
