Let A = (2, 4, 5) and B = (3, 5, -9)

Let the line joining A and B be divided by the

yz-plane at point P in the ratio λ: 1

Then, we have

P = (3λ+2λ+1,5λ+4λ+1,9λ+5λ+1)

Since P lies on the yz-plane, the x-coordinate of P will be zero.

3λ+2λ+1=0

3λ+2=0

λ=23

Hence, the yz-plane divides AB in the ratio - 2 : 3
