Let (12,6) divide the line segment joining the points (3,5) and (7,9) in the ratio of K:1.
Using section formula, the co-ordinate of the dividing point are given as
x=Kx2+x1K+1 and y=Ky2+y1K+1
12=K(7)+3K+112=7K+3K+1
K+1=14K+6
15K=5
K=13
Ratio is 1:3
