The ratio of copper and zinc in an alloy is 5:3. If the weight of the alloy is 488gm, find the weight of zinc in the alloy.

Finding the weight of zinc in the alloy:

The given ratio is =5:3

Consider the ratio as x.

So, the weight of copper =5x

Weight of zinc =3x

Then the weight of alloy is =5x+3x=8x

According to the question ,

8x=488x=4888=61

Hence, the weight of zinc = 3x=3(61)=183gm
