Let the diameters of the two circles are $d_{1}$ and $d_{2}$ .
Then the ratio of their areas
$= \frac{r_{1}^{2}}{r_{2}^{2}}$
$= \frac{4^{2}}{5^{2}}$
$= \frac{16}{25}$ .
So the ratio is $16 : 25$ .
