The ratio of distance travelled by a body falling freely from rest in the last second of its motion to that in last but one second of its motion is 5:4.Find the total time taken by the body to reach the ground.

Apply the formula of displacement in nth second , given u= 0 , a=g For fist case nth second , Sn= g(2n-1)/2 For second case Sn-1= g(2(n-1)-1)/2 = g(2n-3)/2 Sn/Sn-1= 5/4 , now solve for n , So time taken by the ball to reaches the ground will be n+1
