Equating KE and PE we get the expression for escape velocity as 2GM/r, where M = mass of earth , r = radius of earth and G = gravitational constant. ince escape velocity is independent of mass of ball, the ratio of escape velocity of a tennis ball to that of a basket ball on the surface of the earth is 1:1.
