So, ratio of Ashley's marbles to Abby's marbles $=2:5$

Also,
$\frac{\text{Ashley's marble}}{\text{Abby's marble}}=\frac{2}{5}$

If Ashley had 16 marbles we would have to figure out the number of marbles with Abby

$\frac{\text{Ashley's marble}}{\text{Abby's marble}}=\frac{2}{5}=\frac{16}{x}$

We get 16 if top number is multiplied with 8, hence we should also multiply the bottom number with 8, we get
$\frac{\text{Ashley's marble}}{\text{Abby's marble}}=\frac{2}{5}=\frac{2\times 8}{5\times 8}=\frac{16}{40}$

Hence, Abby have 40 marbles with her.
