The ratio of present age of father and son is 4:1. If 4 years ago the ratio was 11:2. Find their present age.

Given the ratio of present age of father and son is 4:1.
Let their present age is 4x and x.
Then 4 years ago their age was 4x4 and x4.
Then according to the problem,
4x4x4=112
or, 8x8=11x44
or, 3x=36
or, x=12.
So present age of father and son is 48 years and 12 years respectively.
