Given the ratio of present age of father and son is $4:1$.

Let their present age is $4x$ and $x$.

Then $4$ years ago their age was $4x-4$ and $x-4$.

Then according to the problem,

$\frac{4x-4}{x-4}=\frac{11}{2}$

or, $8x-8=11x-44$

or, $3x=36$

or, $x=12$.

So present age of father and son is $48$ years and $12$ years respectively.
