The ratio of present ages of Albert and salim is 5:9. Five years hence ratio of their ages will be 3 : 5. Find their present ages.

Let present ages of Albert & Salim be x, y

$\Rightarrow \frac{x}{y}=\frac{5}{9}$

$\Rightarrow x=\frac{5y}{9}$ and $\frac{x+5}{y+5}=\frac{3}{5}$

$\Rightarrow 5x+25=3y+15$

$\Rightarrow 5\left(\frac{5y}{9}\right)=3y-10$

$\Rightarrow 25y=27y-90$

$\Rightarrow 2y=90$

$\Rightarrow y=45$

$\Rightarrow x=\frac{5}{9}\left(45\right)$

$=5\times 5=25$.
