Question

The ratio of two complementary angles is 4 : 5. Find these angles and ratio of their supplementary angles?

Open in App
Solution

The complementary angles are those angles whose sum is 90°Since the ratio of the angles are 4:5, take the angles as 4x and 5xThen it implies that, 4x+5x=90° 9x=90° x=10°So the angles are 4x=4×10°=40° 5x=5×10°=50°

Now find the supplemenatary angles to the angles 40° and 50°The supplementary angles are those angles whose sum is 180°Thus the supplementary angle corresponding to 40° is 180°-40°=140°and the supplementary angle corresponding to 50° is 180°-50°=130°Thus, the required ratio of supplementary angles is, 140130=14:13
