The ratio of zinc and copper in an alloy is $7 : 9$ .If the weight of the copper in the alloy is $11.7$ kg. Find the weight of the zinc in the alloy.

Given that,
Weight of zinc $= 7 x$
Weight of copper $= 9 x$
Total weight of alloy
$7 x + 9 x = 11.7 k g$
$x = 1.3 k g$

Hence,
Weight of zinc $= 7 \times 1.3 = 9.1 k g$
