The ratios of number of red pens to the number of blue pens in a shop is 3:7. There are 64 more blue pens than red pens. If the no. of red pens increases by 12, find the new ratio of no. of red pens to the no. of blue pens.

Let the number of red pens = 3xthen the number of blue pens = 7xNow, according to question, 3x + 64 = 7x4x = 64x = 16Now, number of red pens = 3×16 = 48number of blue pens = 7×16 = 112Now, when the number of red pens is increased by 12, number of red pens = 48 + 12 = 60Now,number of red pensnumber of blue pens = 60112 = 1528
