Question

The reaction 2H2(g)+2NO(g)2H2O(g)+N2(g) is first order in H2 and second order in NO. The rate constant of the reaction at a certain temprature is 0.42 M2S1. Calculate the rate when [H2] = 0.015 M and [NO] = 0.025 M.

Solution

2H2+2NO2H2O+N2

dRdt=k[H2][NO]2

K=42M2S1 [H2]=0.015M [NO]=0.025M

dRdt=42×0.015×0.025=0.01575 MS1
