The reading of a thermometer at $0^{o} C$ and $100^{o} C$ are $50 c m$ and $75 c m$ of mercury column respectively. Find the temperature at which its reading is $80 c m$ of mercury column?

Reading of thermometer at $0 ℃$ and $100 ℃$ are $50 c m$ and $75 c m .$
$\Rightarrow$ Difference in $c m = 50 - 75$
$= 25 c m$
$\Rightarrow$ Difference in Celsius $= 0 - 100$
$= 100$
$25 c m$ is equal to $100 °$
$1 c m$ is equal to $4 ℃$
So, $80 c m = (75 + 5) c m$
$= 100 ℃ + 5 \times 4 ℃$
$= 120 ℃ .$
Hence, the answer is $120 ℃ .$
