Solution

The correct option is C NH2NH2
The given reaction is the reduction of ketones to alkanes. Condensation of the carbonyl compound with hydrazine (H2NNH2) forms the hydrazone, and treatment with base induces the reduction of the carbon coupled with oxidation of the hydrazine to gaseous nitrogen, to yield the corresponding alkane is Wolff-Kishner reduction.
The Clemmensen reduction also allows the deoxygenation of aldehydes or ketones, to produce the corresponding hydrocarbon. But the substrate must be stable to strong acid. The given reactant containing OH is not stable under acid. LiAlH4 or NaBH4 reduce ketones to corresponding alcohols. Therefore, A is a Wolf-Kishner reduction.
