Solution

The correct option is C

1

Compute the required value:

Let f(x)=x+1x

Differentiate with respect to x,

f'(x)=1-1x2

Put f'(x)=0

1-1x2=0

x=±1

Differentiate f'(x) with respect to x,

f''(x)=2x3

Substitute the value of x,

f''(1)=2f''(-1)=-2

Since, value of f''(x) is positive for x=1,

Therefore, for x=1, f(x) have minimum value.

Hence, option (C) is the correct option.
