Given:

Step A: 114 cups of flour is mixed with 258 cups of chocolate.

Step B: Add 18 cups of sugar to the flour
and chocolate mixture.

So,
Weight of the mixture after step A
=[114+258] cups

Now, the fraction 114 can be written as:


Similarly, the fraction 258 can be written as:


So, 114+258=108+218

Calculating 108+218 we get:


So, at the end of step A, the weight ofthe mixture is 318 cups.

Now, in step B, an additional 18 cups ofsugar is added to this mixture.

So, the total amount of the mixture after step B will be:
[318+18] cups

Calculating 318+18, we get:


But, 328=4

Hence, the total amount of the mixture after both the steps is 4 cups.
