Solution

Instructions:Mention the two main causes of the Indo-China conflict. Discuss the recent development made as well.

Solution:
  • The main reason for the recently strained relationship between India and China is the Border dispute related to the Aksai Chin area and the McMahon line.
  • China proclaims the area south of the Aksai Chin and McMahon line (Arunachal Pradesh) belongs to the Chinese Territory.
  • India made several efforts to sort these border disputes through dialogue. But it has not met with much success and led to China attacking India in 1962. The border dispute remains unresolved even after the war.
  • Adding to this, the increasing friendship between China and Pakistan and the increasing influence of China over India’s other neighbors are a cause of concern for India.
  • Moreover, Indian and Chinese troops engaged in a military clash at the Line of Actual Control in May 2020, which caused a decline in their relations. As a result, India banned Chinese goods.
