The resistance of the coil of a tangent galvanometer is 60 Ω. It is connected to a battery of negligible internal resistance. The deflection is found to be 60. Now a shunt resistance of 30 Ω is connected across the coil of the tangent galvanometer. The deflection produced will be________

For a tangent galvanometer , i=ktan θ

i1=VG=ktan θ1 ........(1)

After shunting , i2=V(GRR+G)=ktan θ2 ....(2)

Dividing (1) and (2) gives R+GR=tan θ1tan θ2 ; θ1=60 θ2=?

30+6030=tan 60tan θ2

tan θ2=33=13θ2=30
