Question

Solution

The correct option is A Between 81 W and 90 W
Let the initial resistance of the lamp filament be R.
Given P=100 WV=220 V,
We know that
P=V2R
then
100=(220)2R
R=2202100=484Ω
When voltage drop 10%, the final voltage V=22022010=198V
Now the expected power
P=V2R=1982484=81W
Suppose now resistance is R
So power
P=(198)2R
Here R Will be less than R, because now the rise in temperature will be less so the rise in Resistance will also be less
Therefore P is more than 81W
But it will not be 90% of the earlier value because the fall in temperature is small.
Hence, option (d) is correct.
