Let θ be the angle between P ad Q
R=[P2+Q2+2PQcosθ]1/2
R2=P2+Q2+2PQcosθ
P2=P2+Q2+2PQcosθ [R=P]
Q2+2PQcosθ=0
Q+2Pcosθ=0 ....(1)

Step 2: Angle between new resultant and Q[Ref. fig.]
If P is doubled then P=2P
Angle between 2P and Q will still be θ
Let α be the angle between new resultant R and Q

Since ODAC is parallelogram OD=AC=2P

tanα=BCOA+AB=2PsinθQ+2Pcosθ

Using equation (1)
