The fungus Gibberella fujikuroi when it infects the rice plant, it causes an abnormal increase in the intermodal area of rice , leading to the rice plant becoming foolishly tall as compared to normal ones , ultimately resulting in it's death . This is because this fungi produces GA (Gibberellic acid) in considerably higher amounts which causes this uncontrolled growth of rice plants.
