$For rigid jointed plane frame, the degree of kinematic indeterminacy without neglecting axial deformations D_{k} = 3 j - r_{e} . If axial deformations are neglected then$

$D_{K} = 3 j - r_{e} - m$

$j = 4; m = 3; r_{e} = 3 + 1 = 4$

$∴ D_{K} = 3 \times 4 - 4 - 3 = 5$
