Solution

Transcription:

  1. The process of copying a segment of DNA into RNA is called transcription.
  2. It is a three-step process.
  3. The first step is initiation, followed by elongation, and termination.
  4. Firstly, the initiation factor recognizes the start signal.
  5. Then, it promotes a region in the DNA.
  6. Then the DNA region along with RNA polymerase binds to the promoter and initiates the transcription.
  7. The RNA polymerase is separated from the DNA-RNA hybrid.
  8. As a result of this separation, the nascent RNA separates.
  9. This process is called termination.
  10. Termination is facilitated by a termination factor.
  11. Thus, RNA polymerase holoenzyme transcribes the promoter, structural gene and terminator.
