Solution

The correct option is D 698
Each orchard in the garden has 299 apples.
In total, there are 98 orchards.

So, total number of apple trees in the Royal garden will be
=98×299

You know,
98 can be rounded off to 100.
And, 299 can be rounded off to 300.

So, by using standard multiplication algorithm,

Estimated result of 98×299=100×300=30,000

Now, to calculate the actual product of 98×299, use the standard algorithm.

Step 1:
Multiplying 299×8, you get 2392.

Step 2:
Multiplying 299×90, you get 26910.

Step 3:
Adding 2392 to 26910, you get the"actual product" as 29,302.

Now, the "estimated product" is 30,000.

So, the difference between the estimated and the actual product is 30,00029,302=698

Hence, the difference between the "estimated" number of apple trees and the "actual" number of apple trees is 698.
