Question

The rubbed insulators able to retain charges placed on them so they were called dielectrics and rub conductors could not retain charges placed on them but immediately drained away the charges so they were called non electric I want to know the reason for this please explain me

Solution

When you rub two different insulatingmaterials against each other they become electrically charged. This only works for insulated objects - conductors direct the charge flow to earth. When the materials are rubbed against each other: Negatively charged particles called electrons move from one material to the other.

Charged objects have an electric field in their vicinity. The air will always contain a small number of ionized particles - this can be a result of cosmic radiation, local electrical activity, or just the chemistry of molecules. Now if your comb is positively charged, negatively charged ions will be attracted to it and positive ones will be repelled. Over time, this results in a neutralization of the charge on the comb.

Now about the rubbed conductors.when we rub conductors it passes the charge to earth and does not gain any charge.
