Solution

The correct option is A Rs. 2,500
Let the previous salary be x.

It is given that the present salary of the man is Rs.3,000 after the increase in salary by 20%, therefore, we have:

20% of x+x=Rs.3000

20100×x+x=3000

x5+x=3000

x5+5x5=3000

x+5x5=3000

6x=3000×5

6x=15000

x=150006

x=2500

Hence, his salary before the increase was Rs.2,500.
