Let the total team strength be 7$x$ and number of boys be $4x$

Given number of boys in the team = 40

$\therefore 4x=40$

$x=10$

$\therefore$ Total team strength = (7) (10) = 70

Number of boys = 40 and Total team strength = 70

Hence number of girls = 70 - 40 = 30
