Solution

The correct option is C luteal phase and lasts for about 13 days
Menstrual cycle in human females has four major phases:
  • Menstrual phase which lasts for about 4-7 days
  • Follicular phase or proliferative phase where the primary follicles mature to form the Graafian follicle and the endometrium regenerates through the process of proliferation (gonadotropins like LH and FSH gradually increase in this phase)
  • Ovulatory phase which occurs after the LH surge (LH surge occurs when there is a maximum secretion of LH. A maximum level of LH hormone is observed in the blood around the 14th day of the menstrual cycle)
  • Luteal phase or the secretory phase which lasts for about 13 days
