Resistance of voltmeter =1000Ω
New resistance added in series=99000Ω
Therefore new sensitivity =?
Using,
Sensitivity = meter resistance + series resistancefull scale reading in volts
=Rm+RsE
=ohmsvolt
=1000+99000V(fullscale) ...... (1)
V(fullscale)=Rmsensitivity=1000103
V=106
From equation (1)
Therefore sensitivity (new)=1000+99000106
=0.1 Volt/div.
