The shaded shape is made of 5 congruent squares. The side of one square is 4 cm. Find the total area of the shaded shape.

Solution

The area of one square is equal to $4 \times 4 = 16$ square centimeters.
The whole shape has $5$ squares.
$∴$ The total area is $= 16 \times 5 = 80$ sq.cms
