The shadow of a tower standing on a level ground is found to be 40 m longer when the Sun's altitude is 30o than when it is 60o. Find the height of the tower.
The correct option is D
In tringle ABD,
tan 600 =ABBD
√3=hx
∴ x=h√3 ......(1)
Now in triangle ABC,
tan 300=ABBC
⇒ 1√3 =hx+40
⇒x+40=√3h
∴ h√3 +40=√3h [from equ..(1)]
⇒h+40√3=3h
⇒2h=40√3
∴ h=20√3
∴ The height of a tower is 20√3
