The sides of a right-angled triangle containing the right angle are 5x cm and 3x1 cm. If its area is 60cm2, find its perimeter.

Area of a right angled triangle
=12×b×h
60=12×(5x)×(3x1)
24=x(3x1)
3x2x24=0
3x29x+8x24=0
3x(x3)+8(x3)=0
x=83, 3

For x=3, AB=3(3)1=91=8
BC=5×3=15

AB2+BC2=AC2
AC2=82+152=64+225=289
AC=17 units(cm)

perimeter =AB+BC+CA
=8+15+17=40cm.
