We know that hypotenuse is the longest side. If 8 cm, 15 cm and 17 cm are the lengths of a triangle, then 17 cm will be the hypotenuse.
172=289 and
(8)2+(15)2=64+225=289
Here, 172 = 82 + 152
Hence, by the converse of Pythagoras theorem, the given triangle is a right triangle.
