The simple interest on a certain sum of 5 years at 8%p.a is rs 200 less than the simple interest on the same sum for 3 years and 4 months at 18%p.a. Find the sum.

Hi, We know that SI = Prt100 where P is principal , t is time and r is rate so here according to the question in first case r = 8%, t = 5 yearsSI of first case = P×8×5100=2P5in second case , r = 18 % , t = 3 years 4 month = 3+412= 103 yearSI for second case = P×10×183×100= 3P5Difference is 200 so 3P5-2P5= 200 P5= 200 So principal P = Rs. 1000
