The solubility of a salt at 40oC is 25gm and at 100oC it is 75gm. A saturated solution of 1.5gm of the salt is cooled from 100oC to 40oC. How much salt will settle down?

The correct option is B 1gm
Solubility of salt at 100oC=75g
Solubility of salt at 40oC=25g
Ratio of solubility of salt at 100oC and 40oC=75:25
=3:1
The saturated solution at 100oC contains salt =1.5g
At 40oC the solubility will be-
3:1=1.5:x
x=0.5g
Thus, the amount of salt that will settle down
=1.50.5=1g
