The first step in the process is:
NaCl+CO2+NH3+H2ONaHCO3+NH4Cl

NaHCO3 precipitates out of the solution as CO2 is bubbled through the ammoniated brine. Excess of CO2 decreases the solubility of NaHCO3 and it will precipitate out.
