β - radiations: With changing aluminium thickness, count rate varies widely. Therefore it is suitable for use.
γ - radiation: γ - rays are not absorbed by aluminium sheets, hence the count rate does not vary much.
Therefore, given that it is a single-type source, a β- source should be used.
