The correct option is B $10 m / s^{2}$
$u = 40 m / s$
$v = 35 m / s$
$t = 1 / 2 s$
As we know, $v = u + a t$
or, $a = \frac{v - u}{t}$
$= \frac{35 - 40}{1 / 2}$
$= 2 \times (- 5) = - 10 m / s^{2}$
Note: Negative sign shows that the car is decelerating.
