Question

The speed of a car increases uniformly from zero to 10 ms1 in 2 s and then remain constant.
a. Find the distance travelled by the car in the first two seconds.
b. Find the distance travelled by the car in next two seconds.
c. Find the total distance travelled in 4 s.

(a) The distance covered by the car in first 2 sec is given as the area under the curve in the first 2 sec.
area=12×2×10

So, Distance (D1)=10m

(b). Again the area under the curve for the next two seconds will give the distance covered in next 2 sec.
Distance (D2)=area=2×2+10=14m

(c). The total distance covered by the car will be the sum of the distance covered in first two seconds and the last two seconds.
So,
Total distance=10+14=24m
