Given,
Number of mole of Helium, n1=1
Number of mole of Oxygen, n2=2
So, Molar heat capacity at constant volume of Helium per mole,
Cv1=f1R2=3R2
[f of monoatomic gas is 3]
Similarly, for Oxygen gas,
Molar heat capacity at constant volume per mole,
Cv2=f2R2=5R2
[f of diatomic gas is 5]
For the mixture of two non-reactive gases,
Molar heat capacity at constant volume,
Cv=n1Cv1+n2Cv2n1+n2
Cv=1×3R2+2×5R21+2=13R6
Molar heat capacity of mixture at constant pressure,
Cp=Cv+R
Cp=19R6
Now,
γ of mixture,
γ=CpCv=1913
Molar mass of mixture of two gases,
M=n1M1+n2M2n1+n2
M=1×4+2×321+2=683 g
Speed of sound in the mixture of gas will be,
v=γRTM
v=    1913×8.3×(27+273)683×103
