Sporogenous tissue is a group of cell which differentiates into microspore mother cell or pollen mother cell. Sporogenous tissue is the compactly arranged homogenous cell in the microsporangium found in young anther. Each microspore mother cell undergoes meiosis and gives rise to haploid microspore.

The formation of microspores inside the microsporangia of seed plants, diploid cell in microsporangium undergoes meiosis and gives rise to four haploid microspores. This process is known as microsporogenesis.

Four nuclei are arranged tetrahedrally are soon invested with cell walls. Each and every cell in a microspore tetrad is haploid. Tetrad means there are four cells, all of which are halpoid in nature and are formed by reduction division or meiosis in microspore mother cells.
