  • In a compound, elements always combine in a fixed ratio by mass.

  • Since there is chemical bond formation takes place between the constituent elements in a compound, therefore, the constituent elements lose their properties.
  • For example - When a magnet is passed over a mixture of Iron and Sulphur, Iron will get separated. When a magnet is passed over Iron sulphide(FeS), Iron will not be attracted.
