Deafness is caused due to the rupturing of the pinna.

The outer ear consists of the pinna and external auditory meatus. The pinna collects the vibrations in the air which produce sound. The external auditory meatus leads inwards and extends up to the tympanic membrane (ear drum). The ear drum vibrates according to the sound waves and transmits them across the middle ear. The ear drum is responsible for the sense of earing.
Hence, the correct statement is: Deafness is caused due to rupturing of tympanic membrane (ear drum).
