Solution

Radius fo cylindrical pen holder (r)=3 cm

Height (h)=10.5 cm

Since, the pen holder is open at the top, but covered at the bottom.

So, surface area of one penholder =Curved surface area of cylinder + Area of bottom circle

Surface area of the pen holder =2πrh+πr2=πr(2h+r)

=227×3(2×10.5+3) cm2

=667(21+3)=667×24 cm2

=15847 cm2

Number of pen holders made =35

Total of cardboard required =15847×35=1584×5=7920 cm2
