The students of Class VIII of a school donated ₹2,401 in all, for Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund. Each student donated as many rupees as the number of students in the class. Find the number of students in the class.

Total money donated = ₹2,401
Let the number of students be x.
So, money donated by each student = x.
Hence, the total money donated = x × x = x2

According to the question,

x2=2,401x=2,401=2,401=7×7×7×7x=7×7=49

Hence, the number of students is 49.
