Let the sides of the triangle be a, b and c.

Given that the sum of the lengths of two sides of the triangle is 48 cm.

a+b=48cm..(i) Also, given that the perimeter is 70 cm. a+b+c=70 cm48+c=70 [From(i)]c=7048=22 cm Semi-perimeter of the triangle, (s)=a+b+c2=702=35 cm

Thus, the difference between the semi-perimeter and the third side =35 cm22 cm=13 cm.

Hence, the correct answer is option (b).
