Let three number in GP be a,ar,ar2.

a2+a2r2+a2r4=S2 ...(1)

and a+ar+ar2=αS ...(2)

a2(1+r2+r4)a2(1+r+r2)2=S2α2S2

(1+r2)2r2(1+r+r2)2=1α2

(1+r2)2r2(1+r+r2)2=1α2

(1+r2r)(1+r2+r)=1α2

α2=r+1r+1r+1r1

As α2=2r=12(3+5)
